Le Marcade – Exterior
There is something for everyone in the quiet and peaceful gardens of Le Marcade; from the 12m x 5m swimming pool to the childrenís play area, shaded sitting areas and al fresco dining room.
The farmhouse stands in 2 acres of gardens which look out over the† rolling hills of the Gers, typically covered with fields of sunflowers, maize wheat or barley.
Sometimes referred to as the Tuscany of France, outdoor living at Le Marcade can be enjoyed from April through to October. Through the summer the early morning mists soon burn off and in the distance you will often see the snow capped mountains of the Pryenees; a truly spectacular view. At night the skies are awash with stars which are all the brighter as there is no air pollution here to lessen the view.
There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen around the house† with deer, wild boar and countless bird species. All in all a beautifully calm and peaceful ambiance.
The gardens are split into 3 distinct areas
A variety of fruit trees border this part of the garden; Cherry, Plum, Damson, Apple, Fig, Mirabelle and Walnut many of them fruiting through the summer. With a large flat area of grass in the centre this makes a wonderful play area for all ages. You will also find our granddaughter’s climbing frame down here and a shaded gazebo with sand pit, which is ideal for babies and toddlers.
Planted with scented roses this little gated garden has a flagged patio and enjoys full sunshine throughout the day. This is a perfect setting to sit and have your morning coffee, or to enjoy an aperitif before your meal or to just sit and read a good book. Passion flowers and lavender bushes surround this little oasis.
Behind the Farmhouse is a tiered garden, with views across the unspoiled rural landscape. Here again there are many trees in and around the garden providing a few naturally shaded enclaves.
The private 12m x 5m swimming pool is fully fenced and is generously equipped with sun-loungers, a table and chairs and pool toys. This tends to be the central attraction for the children from morning till night. An Indian Bean tree (Catalpa) provides a lovely shaded area out of the midday sun and there are sun shades providing further shade.
The whole of the rear garden is grassed and provides another great area for kids to safely explore and play in.
If you wish to dine outside we have a covered alfresco dining area directly to the rear of the farmhouse, looking down over the garden and onto the pool. There is seating for 8 people here and also a gas BBQ.
For picnicing adventures further afield you will find a picnic set and ice box in the house.
There is off-road parking for at least 2 cars to the side of the Farmhouse
